Q:What is the process of obtaining a nanny?
The process entails the following basic steps:
- Discoveries – Obtain information about the employer family. This includes details of responsibilities, specific requirements, work environments, required skills/qualifications, etc.
- Search (internal)- Search our internal database and advertise to our internal network of caregivers to find a match based on the criteria obtained in Discoveries.
- Search (external) – Place advertisements on various boards for caregivers based on the criteria obtained in Discoveries.
- Candidate Selection – Select candidate(s) and short list those who have the most suitable experience based on the employer requirements.
- Conduct Background and Reference checks – Conduct thorough and in-depth checks prior to employer interviews/placements.
- Employment offer – Assist with providing and negotiating a legal employment offer.
- Taxes & Insurance – Assist with setting up tax deductions as well as insurance coverage (where required).

Q:Where do your nannies come from?
Harmony Nannies caregivers are carefully selected and interviewed from Canada and around the world. Common locations of foreign workers are Hong Kong, Philippines, and Singapore. Many countries have qualified caregivers with varying processing times from country to country. Contact us for more information on the source countries and processing estimated times.
Q:How do you screen your caregivers?
In addition to the In-Home Caregiver Program Requirements and CIC Immigration, we have our own comprehensive screening process designed to help ensure only those caregivers who have the personality, experience, and willingness to work are selected. In addition to this, many of our caregivers communicate with us regularly and outside of work placement, allowing us to get to get to know them in a relaxed natural state.
Q:How much does a caregiver cost?
It varies from province to province. In Ontario, the prevailing wage can be found here, and a maximum of 48 hours/week (or more if there is an employer/employee agreement indicating that the employee will work a specified number of hours in excess of the daily limit). Q:What are typical nanny duties?
A nanny is an experienced person focused on caring for your children keeping them safe, happy and engaged. Nannies will also perform light housekeeping duties that evolve around keeping a happy and safe environment for the children. Landry, meal preparations, cleaning of living space, etc. are all considered light housekeeping duties.
